How does the active park assist help you when parking?

Active park assist mainly supports you by finding a suitable gap: it measures the space while you drive past and tells you when a parking space is large enough for your vehicle (answer 1). That’s the key function being tested here.

It does not mean the car “sees everything.” Most systems use ultrasonic sensors/cameras that can miss certain obstacles (very low/high objects, thin poles, objects outside the sensor area, dirt/rain effects), so it cannot be relied on to detect all obstacles during the entire manoeuvre (answer 2 is too broad). You still have to keep looking and be ready to brake.

It also does not check whether you’re legally allowed to park there (answer 3). The system doesn’t evaluate parking signs, restrictions, driveways, private entrances, time limits, or no-parking zones in a legally binding way. The rule of thumb: the car can help with space and steering, but you are responsible for legality and safety at all times.
